High-Speed Internet Frequently Asked Questions & Answers
How fast is River Valley Internet?
Our speeds are comparable to cable internet & faster than DSL, but without the bundling & high costs that come with other companies.
How large is the antenna that goes on my building?
Our standard antennas are 16 inches in diameter, about 1/2 the size or smaller than a typical satellite dish; while our LTE antennas are a 12 x 12 inch square.
Does the monthly rate go up at the end of the first year?
No. Our flat-rate plans are what you'll pay at all times. They are not introductory "got you" pricing.
Is River Valley Internet a satellite solution?
No. Although RVI is a wireless solution, it is beamed from terrestrial towers. This means weather does not affect your service, nor will you experience the latency & other problems often associated with satellite internet services.
Is RVI service the same as an 802.11 a/b/g wireless access point?
No. You cannot receive these signals with your laptop or mobile phone. Additionally, the equipment we use is more secure than a traditional access point & uses proprietary software & hardware to assure a fast, stable connection.
Can I purchase the antenna instead of leasing it?
No. The antenna remains the property of River Valley Internet. There are also no monthly rental fees.
Wireless means no wires at all right?
Almost. No wires to your home or business. When we install service, we will run a single small cable from the antenna outside to one room in your home. From there, you may connect directly to a computer, network or a wireless router to distribute the signal throughout your home or office.
Do you have monthly data caps?
Not at this time, nor do we expect to implement data caps anytime soon.
